A responsibility that the group take very seriously is educating the public about the plight of the red squirrel in Tollymore Forest Park. We hold an annual Red Squirrel Day 'Goes Wild' event to celebrate Red Squirrel Week in October. This free, family event includes fun activities based on Red Squirrel Conservation and also includes stands from other local wildlife groups and charities.
We also take Red Squirrel education to events and local community groups. Red Squirrel walks can be organised for interested parties. Please Contact Us for details.
The group publishes twice yearly reports about the status of the Tollymore red squirrels with the help of local newspaper.
The group also liaise with councils and companies wanting to conserve red squirrels on their property, offer advice to red squirrel groups starting out, and play an active part in the Northern Ireland Squirrel Forum (NISF) hosted by NIEA DAERA NI
If you require any further information about the red squirrel please refer to our Links and Publications and Information pages.
